Lubina, Caramelised Garlic & Oyster Mushrooms
When establishing the chef, the aim was to create a sense of ambiguity through varied camera techniques. A slow truck shot emerging from the wall revealed the chef sharpening his knives, followed by a close-up from behind capturing the subtle movement of the kitchen towel. Using a low shutter speed while cutting vegetables emphasised the chef’s control and precision, while a magic arm mounted to the frying pan drew the audience directly into the fast, engaging cooking of the fish. Towards the end, slower cuts between shots conveyed the patience and care the chef applies while plating a dish. The video was also deliberately shot in a 4:3 old Hollywood aspect ratio to lock in detail within a confined frame. This format ensured that each shot carried weight and contributed to the storytelling.
